Transylvania Waters
by Peter Miller
The Strigoi family, recently emigrated from Romania, move into a duplex in Blacktown. Vitali and Rosa and their two teenage kids Vlad and Monica have to cope with all the pressures of living in a new country— especially challenging for them because they are all vampires.
Shot in black and white in pseudo-documentary ‘fly-on-the-wall’ style — the Addams Family meets Spinal Tap. Scripted but giving the appearance of life as it happens.
Episode 1: How Do You Like Your Stake?
The Strigois move into their new house in Sunshine Crescent. It’s midnight. The moving van says ‘Fly By Night Removals’ on the side. The furniture is being moved in by a couple of guys who look like trolls. Because they are.
Neighbours across the street, the Figgises, watch them move all manner of stuff into the house. Chairs, beds, wardrobes, coffins. Cordelia Figgis, their Goth teenage daughter, is especially intrigued.
Bob Figgis chats with Vitali over the fence: “Bit late to be doing this sort of thing mate ...” Vitali tells him that he works the graveyard shift and it’s the only chance to get it done.
One of the trolls eats the Figgises poodle ‘Fluffy’. Bob doesn’t see this but Cordelia does. Bob invites the new family around for a barbie tomorrow night. The trolls drop a mirror in the driveway where it smashes into a million pieces.
